IMPC 2016 – Meeting Technical, Environmental and Social Challenges

The Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum (CIM) is honoured to be hosting the XXVIII International Mineral Processing Congress (IMPC) in Québec City, Québec/Canada. From 11 to 15 September 2016, over 1500 mineral processing experts, academics and industry professionals from more than 60 countries will gather to explore and discuss the important issues and trends currently shaping the industry and its future. Canada last hosted the IMPC in 1982 and is proud to do so again.

The International Mineral Processing Congress has been in existence for more than sixty years, with the first one held in London in 1952. Since then the IMPC has been a major driving force for the promotion of scientific and technical knowledge in mineral processing and extractive metallurgy across the globe, becoming the most prestigious event in its field in the world today. The congress is truly international in scope with delegates from all parts of the world deliberating and collaborating on critical issues facing the mining and mineral processing industry globally.

What to Expect at IMPC 2016

IMPC 2016’s four-day congress will feature a technical program under the theme “Processing for All: Meeting Technical, Environmental and Social Challenges.” The program will include up to 600 oral presentations. A dozen parallel technical streams will encompass discussion on every aspect of the industry, while a poster session will provide additional opportunities for dialogue. A comprehensive examination of current trends, best practices and latest discoveries will be explored through plenary sessions, keynote presentations, special symposiums and workshops. The Metallurgy and Materials Society of CIM (MetSoc) will be hosting its Annual Conference of Metallurgists (COM2016) – traditionally held as a stand-alone event – concurrently with IMPC 2016. This collaboration is sure to enhance all delegates’ experience and complement IMPC proceedings.

Attendees will also have the opportunity to network with peers and partners in a dynamic environment at a trade show of 100 exhibitors. Here, all participants will have an opportunity to meet and check out the poster session, network, do business and enjoy refreshments and lunch breaks (Fig.). The week’s itinerary also includes site visits, an exciting social program, tourist excursions, city activities and a evening banquet that is not-to-be-missed.

Abstract submissions

For sharing the research results and participation in IMPC 2016 as an author, an abstract of up to 300 words in English should be submitted before August 1, 2015.

The abstracts must include these details: title, objective of the paper, results and its contribution to the development of mineral processing. The title should include the full contact information of each author. Once the abstract is accepted, its author must submit the full version of the paper by March 15, 2016. Author pre-registration by the deadline is a pre-requisite. Accepted papers will only be included in the final program and published if one author is registered by May 1, 2016.
