Interface between field bus and ethernet

From now on Schenck Process offer their electronic weighing systems of the types DISOMAT^®, DISOCONT^® and INTECONT^® with the new field bus module PROFINET IO VPN 28020. The innovative development from Schenck Process makes it possible to use the field bus and office communication by means of a common network infrastructure in the future. For the customer this means, in particular, cost saving and the greatest possible transparency. Although it is a classic field bus, the PROFINET has the same cabling as the office network. In this way, time-consuming and expensive conversions are a thing of the past. In addition, the field bus module ensures an improved self-monitoring of the network, since it is possible to centrally detect and eliminate error sources.

The PROFINET has two modes of operation – ­PROFINET IO and PROFINET CBA. The field bus module VPN 28090 has been designed for operation with the PROFINET IO, i.e. for the cyclic data exchange between a bus master and the connected slaves. PROFINET IO is available in three different conformance classes A, B and C, which differ regarding the transmission rates and the system security. The field bus module PROFINET IO VPN 28020 supports the conformance classes A and B according to the requirements of our customers.
