POWTECH 2013 – Number one for powder, granule and bulk solids technologies
W hatever mineral source materials are used for, the decisive factors for the quality of the manufactured products include sophisticated screening equipment and particle analysis tailored to the respective requirements. POWTECH in the Exhibition Centre Nuremberg (Fig. 1) from 23-25 April 2013 once again offers what is probably the most extensive overview of the latest equipment for handling powders, granules and bulk solids. More than 700 exhibitors from 26 countries are expected at the leading European exhibition for mechanical processing technologies. They offer the broadest range of technology in the world for mixing, size reduction, screening, conveying and analysing for achieving economic plant operation in the building material, recycling, pit, quarrying, coal and ore industries.
Here technology leaders show the latest screening trends for extended lifetimes, optimized particle spectrums and higher throughputs with reduced energy consumption. For products that are difficult to screen, like those with different moisture contents particularly found in the source material industry, POWTECH also shows all modern screen-supporting technologies, such as ultrasonic, vacuum, air or the combination of ultrasonic and air. So POWTECH offers a unique survey of current improvements and trends in fractionating and screening machines.
The around 60 companies at POWTECH that show systems for particle analysis and particle characterization, come from ten countries in Europe, Asia and America and thus represent the entire globally available know-how on these highly demanding and mostly mechanical, optical and chemical analysis processes. From chemical identification, determination of molecule size, molecular weight, particle shape and size to rheological properties or determination of zeta potential, the exhibitors at POWTECH show the most modern systems for determining all these parameters. Planners and operators at POWTECH 2013 also find solutions for linking plant and automation equipment to form complete systems. The fair offers the whole spectrum of technology for this – from incoming acceptance of powder, granules and bulk solids, intralogistics from pneumatic conveying to lined abrasion-resistant pipes, and varied solutions for the storage of these products in big bags or bulk silos. POWTECH also offers the full spectrum of C&I equipment for field use – from flow and level indication equipment to humidity measurement and online particle analysis.
POWTECH visitors (Fig. 2) are certainly advised to visit the other events taking place in the Exhibition Centre Nuremberg at the same time: TechnoPharm, the International Trade Fair for Life Science Process Technologies in the pharma, food and cosmetics industry, and PARTEC, the International Congress on Particle Technology, provide an extensive one-stop event on handling powders and bulk solids. The programme is rounded off with the INDEX Safety Congress from 24 to 25 April 2013, guided tours of the exhibition, presentations on explosion protection and live explosions in the park.
