Technical recultivation and reforestation

On 3 July 2013 the ISTE will organize a specialist seminar including excursion in Wolfegg in the Allgäu region together with the forest authority of Baden-Württemberg, forestry office of Tübingen (ForstBW), the gravel works Ernst Marschall GmbH & Co. KG and Gebr. Queck GmbH & Co. KG as well as the engineering office Flickinger & Tollkühn GmbH. The topic will be the avoidance of errors during the technical recultivation and reforestation. Forest areas used to extract near-surface raw materials limited in time have to be afforested again according to the state forest law LWaldG, § 11, para. 1, no. 3. For this purpose the local prerequisites have to be created within the framework of the technical recultivation to restore forests of the same kind and quality (on the former extraction areas). The aim of the event is to show the principles of soil management when preparing the extraction areas and of the preparation of the soil surface. This will be demonstrated at an extraction site. The specialist seminar is to attract companies of the rock and associated products industry in Germany, representatives of soil, forest and nature conservation authorities as well as consulting engineering offices.
