Today the VERDER Group acquired the majority of the Austrian company Qness GmbH, thereby extending the portfolio of its Scientific Division with a product line for hardness testing. Qness is a leading manufacturer of hardness testing machines which comply with recognized standards like Brinell, Vickers, Knoop and Rockwell. The instruments are used both for industrial applications and material research. Moreover, the company specializes in custom-made test lines. The headquarters are located in Golling (near Salzburg/Austria) where Qness develops and manufactures all products with 40 highly qualified staff.

The Qness portfolio complements the offering of ATM GmbH which is also part of Verder Scientific. In future, ATM’s comprehensive product range for metallographic sample preparation and the hardness testing machines from Qness will form a strong platform to provide complete solutions for materials testing.

„With ATM and Qness the two technological leaders in metallography and hardness testing are united under the roof of Verder Scientific. Qness will have access to additional resources to push international expansion and extend its innovative product range”, explains Dr. Jürgen Pankratz, CEO of the Division. Reinhard Gruber, Managing Director of Qness, is confident that “the worldwide synergy effects will contribute to the positive development of our organization and secure operations in Golling on a long-term basis”.

In a second step, VERDER will acquire 100% of the organization. True to the group’s established acquisition strategy they will not only maintain the company’s headquarters in Austria but also support further expansion. The existing Qness management team will continue to be in charge.
