New Global Minerals Technology Center

FLSmidth officially opened their new global minerals technology center in Midvale City in Utah/USA. FLSmidth consolidated all of its Utah operations, and relocated a number of personnel from the company’s Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, Richmond, California and Wales, Wisconsin offices into the new location, which will be home to almost 400 engineers, technicians and support staff, as well as state-of-the art laboratories, and research & development capabilities. The company selected Utah for several key reasons. FLSmidth works closely with the University of Utah Metallurgical and Mining Departments to test products and train students for future positions within the company and industry. The Salt Lake Valley is close to major transportation arteries and conveniently located near many of the major U.S., Canadian and Mexican mining projects – the company’s target market. Rio Tinto Kennecott Utah Copper is one of FLSmidth’s largest and most important customers in the area. Kennecott allows FLSmidth direct access to a constant flow of critical customer input, and provides a showcase for new customers.
