58th NordBau including site was a great success

After six days of the 58th Nordbau trade fair, the builders are continuing their work. The upgrading work on the Holsten halls continues unhindered and visible for all. This year, 70 400 visitors from at home and abroad (Fig.) came to the largest compact construction fair in Northern Europe, which took place in Neumünster with more than 900 exhibitors. As in previous years, the same outdoor areas (69  000 m²) and floor space in the halls (20 000 m²) were occupied and, consequently, were fully booked as has been the case every year since 2001.

During the new building and alteration work, Dirk Iwersen, the manager of the Holsten halls, called this construction trade fair “open heart surgery without any complications.” The first impressions for guests and visitors were of an architectural ensemble of building elements, partly under heritage protection, and modern building materials combining economic efficiency, climate protection and comfort for the users. “Topics which have determined all fields of the construction fair in Neumünster for years are reflected in our new building under construction”, said Iwersen.

Manufacturers and dealers presented German and global innovations regarding construction machinery and equipment on the open fairgrounds. Amongst other things, various technologies were in the focus, such as hybrid drives based on hydraulics, clean and effective combustion or load-dependent control of ventilation and motor cooling, to name but a few of the alternatives offered by manufacturers, which mean energy efficiency and fuel saving for the companies and users. In addition, the unity of man and machine has increasing importance for successful construction as regards the development of new technologies. Only if the operator is feeling at ease and finds a well-functioning ergonomy that corresponds to the operation, together with high safety standards, can exacting construction tasks be fulfilled with optimum machine performance.

The 59th NordBau, which again will cover the complex topics of construction, will take place from 11. to 16. September 2014.
