Besides its other products, Malvern Instruments is presenting its Mastersizer 3000 laser diffraction particle size analyzer at POWTECH 2013 (Fig.). This is a compact system for intelligent particle size measurement with a completely newly designed dry dispersion unit.
With the wider dynamic measurement range from 0.01- 3500 µm, the Mastersizer 3000 returns precise, rugged particle size measurements with laser diffraction for wet and dry measurements, over the particle size range of millimetres, micrometers and nanometers. Intelligent design of the new optical core packs this exceptional performance into an instrument with the smallest of footprints. On top of this, an equally sophisticated array of compact sample dispersion accessories is available, including a completely new type of dry powder dispersion unit.
The high (10 KHz) data acquisition rate of the Mastersizer 3000 returns precise measurements, even with fast sample throughput. All parameters of the analysis – sample feed, dispersion, measurement and cleaning are controlled completely by the software via the system manager interface. Real-time feedback helps to optimize method development and in routine measurements. User-friendly and intuitive software controls every measurement with the Mastersizer 3000 and guarantees the operator independent analyses.
Data generation and compilation in reports can be adapted to meet the individual needs of customers. The possibilities are as wide ranging as the industries in which the technology can be applied.
