New recycling plant with Sandvik PriSec CI521 horizontal shaft impactor series (HSI)

Since its founding 30 years ago, Schneps, a company based in Stockerau/Lower Austria, has evolved from a straight shipping and forwarding agent to a recycling specialist. In addition to clearing plot areas, the company transports any excavated material with its own fleet, which now includes 30 trucks. It has also widened its activities to supply sand, ballast, humus soil and, for example, frost protection layers. The plan was to build a completely new recycling plant near Vienna (Fig. 1). For this, the company met up with the specialists at BAG Klöch Aufbereitungstechnik and the manufacturer Sandvik Construction.

Following intense discussions and planning, a flowchart was created and the virtual plant tuned to the requirements and needs of the customer. At the core of the processing plant is the Sandvik PriSec CI521 horizontal shaft impactor. The new generation of compact horizontal shaft impactors (HSI) combines low investment costs with optimum performance. For a wide range of materials and applications, very low operating costs are achieved. The modular design of the PriSec series enables conversion of the machines from primary to secondary crusher – in a short time, and without any additional parts. The new crushing chamber configuration enables a higher crushing rate than before. Besides the improved productivity, the new crusher features universal wear parts and a low maintenance requirement.

The Sandvik CI521 PriSec impactor is equipped with two infinitely adjustable, hydraulic-operated curtains. In combination with this – besides the solid design of the new series of impact crushers – an impressive feature is the newly developed braking system, which, when uncrushable materials enter the crusher, leads to the corresponding impact curtain lifting and being held in this position. Both the first and the second curtains are equipped with an adjustment/braking system, located on the cross-beams of the crusher. With the new HSI generation, blockages, crusher downtime as well as hazards for health and safety are reported to be a thing of the past. The result: optimum utilization of the operating time.

Core components of the crusher are the rotor and the hammers. The rotor impresses with its weight and improved design. The necessary high inertia necessary for optimum crusher performance is achieved. The modular design (banana shape) of the hammers ensures a uniform wear pattern during the entire wear or service lifetime and accordingly a uniform product. An additional plus is the key safety interlock system. It ensures safe maintenance and prevents the unintentional opening of the crusher or the inspection hatches. From the initial planning to awarding of the contract there were just 14 days. Following two months of installation work, the crusher could be handed over and commissioned. With a total of 50 employees, the company now covers building waste recycling in a radius of 50 to 70 km around Stockerau and supplies the market with high-quality materials. Environmentally friendly and economic.
