Sandvik mobile plants in Kazakhstan

Operating since 1991, Korund is considered to be one of the largest distributors of mining and construction equipment in Central Asia. Since March 2014, Korund became a distributor for Sandvik Construction Mobile Crushing and Screening products. The first units delivered into Kazakhstan were to be used in order to produce aggregate from granite and diorite material for a road construction company. Korund, and its customer, have utilized the flexibility of the Sandvik machines to operate them in two crushing and screening trains to achieve the desired material sizes.

The first train consists of a QJ341 jaw crusher, feeding a QH331 cone crusher, with the resulting products being screened by a QA331 screen (Fig. 1). The QJ341 is the flagship model from the Sandvik Construction Premium range of mobile jaw crushers and consistently proves to be one of the world’s best-selling tracked machines in its class. In the Kazakhstan road construction application the jaw is set to a 80 mm CSS (Closed Side Setting), allowing the machine to crush the largest material easily. This is then fed into the QH331 cone crusher which is set at a 32 mm CSS to crush and shape the finished product. The QH331 is fitted with the world renowned Sandvik CH430 cone crusher, which comes with a choice of six different crushing chambers and a variety of bush settings, making it one of the most flexible cone crushers on the market today.

Finally the crushed and shaped material is fed to a QA331 screen. This features a two bearing screen box with a unique screening angle built into the bottom deck for ultimate fines screening, making it the perfect solution for this particular train application. The top deck features 25 mm square mesh and the bottom deck a 5 mm square mesh to produce finished product sizes of 0-4 mm, 4-20 mm and 20-40 mm.

The second train operation consists of the QJ341 jaw crusher feeding the QA331 screen directly (Fig. 2). This combination allows for a wider range of sizes to be produced as the jaw is able to tackle the most difficult applications, whereas the screen is ideal for ultimate fines screening. The produced materials are 0-4 mm, 4-20 mm and 20-100 mm, made possible by the flexibility of the Sandvik crusher and screen. The equipment has also proved to be highly durable and economical as after 700 hours of operation the screen has only just had its first mesh change.
