Symposium on “Raw Material Efficiency and Raw Material Innovations”, New Museum Nuremberg (February 5/6, 2014)

Sustained handling of scarce natural resources is a key goal for the future. Lower availability and rising raw material prices call for significant innovations in raw materials and make the necessary processes an important economic factor. A primary goal must be to improve resource efficiency considerably and optimize the added value of products and primary products as well.

At the symposium “Raw Material Efficiency and Raw Material Innovations”, measures for improving resource efficiency, industry and material-dependent strategies and technologies are to be presented and discussed. Besides raw materials for iron and steel production as well as non-ferrous metals, another focus is on industrial minerals, potassium and rock salts and stones and earths. Here, measures for the security of raw materials supply, recycling and secondary raw materials, new processing technologies and environmental protection will play an important role. The symposium intends to contribute to the scientific-technical transfer around the topics of raw material efficiency and resource optimization and to bring together professionals from industry, politics and society, from research and development and from the applications industry relating to “raw materials”. It will ­provide a communication and discussion platform for ­partners from a wide range of raw material sectors. Technology trends as well as established technologies, opportunities for assistance and support, and economic prospects for innovative products and processes will be presented and discussed.
