Urban Mining e.V. and Easyfairs sign cooperation agreement

Urban Mining e.V. and Easyfairs sign cooperation agreement Trade show organiser Easyfairs Deutschland GmbH has entered into a strategic partnership with the association Urban Mining e.V. According to the recently concluded cooperation agreement, for the first time, the Urban Mining Congress is to run in parallel with the expert trade show RECYCLING-TECHNIK on 4 & 5 November 2015 in the Messe Westfalenhallen Dortmund.

The Urban Mining Congress, organised by Urban Mining e.V., is in its sixth edition, and the RECYCLING-TECHNIK is taking place in Dortmund for the third time. “The affinity between these topics provides ideal conditions for both events to grow further,” says Daniel Eisele, the Event Director at Easyfairs responsible for RECYCLING-TECHNIK 2015. “By now, we have got over 150 providers of technical solutions in the area of recycling, as well as 20 lectures in the forum. With the Urban Mining Congress, we have an additional substantial industrial theme coming to Dortmund, which offers recycling experts even more value,” concludes Eisele.

Against a backdrop of ever-scarcer feedstocks, the central theme of the 6th Urban Mining Congress, “Rethinking Resources – The City as a Mine for Raw Materials”, focuses on the optimal methods of reclaiming used commodities. As global resources become tighter and more expensive, urban mining gains in importance. Scientists and entrepreneurs are developing innovative solutions for the recovery of metals and other recyclables. At the Urban Mining Congress, experts from science, commerce and politics will present their scientific findings and innovations.

“In this new collaboration between our association and Easyfairs we see the ideal opportunity to position two well-established events side-by-side on the market,” remarks Dr Ernst J. Baumann, member of the board for Urban Mining e.V. “A renowned conference and a high-calibre trade show: the perfect symbiosis.”

Main topics at the 6th Urban Mining Congress 2015

Urban Mining Award

A highlight of the Urban Mining Congress is the presenting of the esteemed Urban Mining Award. For the past five years, the award – granted in several categories – has been conveyed on persons engaged in the reclamation of raw materials and the protection of resources. Previous awardees include, among others, Professor Dr. Klaus Töpfer, Ranga Yogeshwar and Professor Dr. Martin Faulstich.

At RECYCLING-TECHNIK and SOLIDS Dortmund 2015, some 450 exhibitors will present the entire spectrum of process engineering technologies for granules, powder, bulk solids and recycling. The show features machines and solutions for receiving, handling and processing incoming goods, for in-house processes and warehousing, as well as for external and internal transport flows. Trade show visitors will find the latest products on display, such as balers, shredders, sorting systems, crushers, sieving machines and conveyors. Decision-makers and investors visit the show in order to find exactly these kinds of recycling solutions. Bulk solids and recycling technologies are an important part of the production processes in such diverse industries as food and drinks, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, plastics, metals, logistics, agriculture, construction and mining.
