Dust binding in the industrial sector
NEBOLEX dust suppression systems are used in numerous industrial applications – from tunnel and underground construction to coal mining, bulk material processing, handling, and storage. They have also proven themselves in the paper, metal, construction waste, and wood recycling industries. In addition, the atomization systems for effective dust suppression in quarries, steel and concrete plants, waste incineration plants, and on port cranes during cargo unloading or ship loading have become indispensable.
With in-depth expertise in mechanical engineering and decades of experience and further development, NEBOLEX Umwelttechnik GmbH produces stationary and mobile single-material and dual-material systems for special applications. The systems are modular in design, can be expanded at any time, and consist of individual assemblies. A water connection, the treatment unit for compressed air, the control and control unit for optimal and demand-oriented control of the system, and the mist bar strips with spray mist heads to introduce the generated water mist. Armored spray mist strips are installed directly near the material flow. The robust construction of the stainless steel enclosures allows them to be used in harsh environments and in difficult-looking locations.
Special nozzles generate a very fine mist, greatly increasing the effective surface area of the water and exploiting the affinity of dust particles to attach themselves to fine water droplets. The nozzle configuration ensures droplets of different sizes; larger droplets combine with larger particles, smaller ones with small particles. UV-resistant fabric hoses supply the individual misting points with water. Neither small impurities nor high lime content in the water pose a problem for the Nebolex system. Filtered or sieved surface or cistern water can be used before use. Malfunctions or blockages are prevented by a “large cross-section” through which the finished mist mixture escapes.
Different sections are controlled as needed. This is particularly necessary and advantageous in larger plants, as not all plant components, such as conveyor belts or feed hoppers, are always operated simultaneously and continuously. All relevant influences, such as material quantity and material properties or cyclical filling processes, can be recorded with NEBOLEX, enabling the system to respond as required and fog for a preset time. This makes it possible to create a fog screen exactly when dust is generated in order to keep water consumption low.
The use of compressed air enables low water ingress and dust minimization of over 90 %. Depending on the material, this is also extremely important for further processing. The system can also be operated at extremely low temperatures. Frost protection is ensured at NEBOLEX by insulated media lines with trace heating and the blow-out function. During standby mode or standby state – the useful functions are temporarily deactivated – the system is completely emptied so that it is free of water and no frost damage can occur.
Another product solution from our portfolio is mobile dust suppression machines. The fully automatic high-performance turbines with different throw ranges and a wide range of applications can be used flexibly at various locations. The robust machines operate smoothly and are user- and maintenance-friendly. For all indoor and outdoor applications, there are several variants with extensive equipment, from standard to special equipment. The number and size of the nozzles influence the droplet spectrum and thus also the water input.
Each system or machine is individually designed for the specified requirements. In order to achieve the best possible result, the company responds to the specific wishes of its customers. NEBOLEX Umwelttechnik is your complete partner: consulting, analysis, on-site consultation (by appointment), planning, quotation and explanation via Teams, construction of a pilot plant, engineering with drawings, installation and commissioning, even outside Europe, through to support, service, maintenance, and spare parts supply.
NEBOLEX Umwelttechnik GmbH is presenting a functional model for dust binding on a scale of 1:16 at the SOLIDS 2026 trade fair. The small-scale functional model shows in a practical way how NEBOLEX Umwelttechnik works on a large scale. The feed hopper is misted in specified cycles and loaded with bulk material using a crane bucket. The gravel is then transported on a conveyor belt with a movable belt transfer and a stationary belt discharge. Both positions are also misted. The bulk material is returned to the storage area via the second conveyor belt. The programmable logic controller allows various fogging activities to be programmed. This means that fogging can be delayed for different processes and the fog intensity can be controlled depending on the amount of material.
