Dear readers,
Another eventful year is drawing to a close, packed with a wide variety of events and trade fairs – among which POWTECH TECHNOPHARM, RecyclingAktiv & TiefbauLive, Ecomondo, and, of course, bauma, which was one of the first highlights of the past year with its groundbreaking new developments and technologies as well as innovative processes, certainly deserving special mention.
Accordingly, our print editions of AT MINERAL PROCESSING covered a wide range of topics. Among other things, practical solutions in the areas of raw material extraction, comminution, and sorting were presented, efficient processes in relation to material flow were reported on, and innovative concepts in the areas of service and maintenance were presented in order to proactively prevent wear and tear and the associated production downtime. Also important was the discussion about securing essential mineral raw materials. The focus was often on the extraction and recycling of secondary raw materials. Another important and now ubiquitous topic was digitalization and the use of artificial intelligence in extraction and processing – linked to the promise of increased efficiency, lower emissions, reduced resource consumption, improved occupational safety, and further cost savings.
However, one major challenge for the future of the industry is undoubtedly the environmentally and socially responsible extraction of the necessary raw materials and the knowledge that a sustainable economy cannot function without a genuine circular economy.
We eagerly await further pioneering developments that will bring us closer to the goal of a zero-waste society, and we will be happy to keep you informed about these in the coming year. With this in mind, we look forward to sharing the highlights of the coming year with you – including SOLIDS Dortmund, IFAT, and, in particular, steinexpo at the beginning of September.
