MobCon – the new generation of mobile dust extraction systems for changing job sites
Industrial quality goes mobile
The requirements for modern construction and industrial projects have changed significantly in recent years. Alongside productivity and cost-effectiveness, the focus today is on emission control, occupational safety and short project durations. At the same time, systems must increasingly be deployed at changing locations. Traditional stationary dust extraction systems quickly reach their limits in this context, as transport, assembly and commissioning take time and incur costs.
The MobCon was therefore developed as a system concept that consistently makes industrial filter technology mobile. The entire dust extraction system is housed in a standardised 20-foot container. The filter, fan, control system, compressed air supply and dust discharge are fully integrated and optimally coordinated. Once transported, the system is simply connected via flexible pipework and is ready for operation within a short time after being connected to the existing site power supply. This concept significantly reduces installation effort and provides a high degree of planning reliability – particularly for projects with short construction times or frequently changing locations.
The MobCon series is available in two performance classes. For smaller applications, the MobCon 15-10 model is available with an 15 000 m³/h air flow rate, whilst the larger variant, the MobCon 32-20, achieves up to 32 000 m³/h. Both units are based on the tried-and-tested Compact-Jet filter technology and offer the performance of stationary filter systems in a mobile design. Once a project is complete, the unit can be deployed directly at the next site without the need for time-consuming dismantling.
Designed for practical use
The MobCon is currently undergoing its first practical deployment at the former Rosental Mitte chemical site in Basel. As part of the contaminated site remediation, contaminated soil is being excavated within a sealed enclosure. The resulting exhaust air is captured and purified by the MobCon before being fed into a downstream activated carbon filtration system. The system is operated by Albin Borer AG from Breitenbach/Switzerland. The project demonstrates that the mobile system concept can be deployed reliably even under the most stringent requirements for emission control and operational safety.
However, the system truly realises its potential in the wide range of possible applications. Wherever high-performance dust extraction is required only temporarily or where operating sites change regularly, a mobile containerised solution offers significant advantages. Typical areas of application include mobile crushing and screening plants, deconstruction and demolition projects, tunnel and bridge refurbishments, recycling plants, the handling of dusty bulk materials, and maintenance work in the cement, lime and power station industries. It also provides high-performance filtration technology at short notice and cost-effectively for temporary production facilities or infrastructure projects.
The procurement model is just as flexible as the plant concept. Both the 15 000 m³/h and the 32 000 m³/h versions can either be purchased or hired for short-term use. The rental model offers particular economic advantages for refurbishment, decommissioning or maintenance projects, as high-performance dust extraction technology is available exactly when it is needed – without tying up capital in the long term.
A concept with a future
Requirements for air quality control and occupational health and safety will continue to rise. At the same time, operators are looking for solutions that are available quickly, can be easily integrated into existing processes and are also economically viable.
With MobCon, tried-and-tested industrial filter technology is being made consistently available for mobile applications for the first time. The result is a high-performance, ready-to-use dust extraction system for projects where stationary systems reach their limits, either economically or logistically.
The first deployment in Basel provides practical application under real-world conditions. However, the actual potential extends far beyond this. Whether on construction sites, in recycling plants or during industrial overhauls – wherever high-performance dust extraction is required at short notice, this mobile system concept offers a cost-effective and forward-looking solution.
