NordBau stays tuned

Taking up and deepening important topics of the construction industry

From September 6 to 10, 2023, the 68th NordBau will take place at the Holstenhallen Neumünster exhibition center in Schleswig-Holstein. It has been the meeting place for the construction industry and all those responsible for construction in the northern half of Germany and its neighboring Scandinavian countries for over six decades.

Directing and optimally using water – opportunities for construction

The focus of the fair this year is the special theme “Water... & build: Heavy Rain – Flood Protection – Water Supply – Environment.”  The theme is being developed and designed together with a number of committed co-initiators. These include universities such as the Helmut Schmidt University in Hamburg with its hydraulic engineering laboratory, the Kiel University of Applied Sciences Department of Hydraulic Engineering, the Christian Albrechts University in Kiel, the implementing authorities of the ministries (for coastal protection, for road construction and for the environment), the GaLaBau trade association, the globally active company Hamburg Wasser as well as renowned manufacturers of this topic. Together, they will present solutions, ideas, models, scientific research, products already in use as well as those under development, and much more in Hall 6. Water, as a precious commodity in dry times, but also as a danger during heavy rainfall events - meanwhile everyone associates individual experiences with it. This makes it all the more important to assess the risks correctly, minimize the effects and exploit the opportunities through intelligent management. The construction industry plays a decisive role in this and is in great demand with future-oriented solutions for upcoming construction contracts.

Sustainability in building construction

Keeping an eye on the future - this also applies to building construction. This will also be demonstrated at NordBau by examples of energy-saving and resource-conserving construction. For example, Lübeck Technical University will once again present a research pavilion, coupled with other scientific projects on efficient and sustainable construction. In addition, the Materialprüfanstalt Schleswig-Holstein and the Forum Kreislaufwirtschaft Bau, consisting of important players and associations in the construction industry, will be present on site. It is underlined that mineral building materials, such as bricks, clinker, sand-lime bricks and concrete are important building materials that must continue to play an important role in planners’ designs. The ecological footprint and climate considerations are essential aspects for building in the future, according to university professors.

Energy saving, tiles and bathroom, interior design and kitchen

In the exhibition hall for heating and energy technology, equipment and products for alternative energy generation and energy saving will be increasingly presented by manufacturers and service providers. The central advice stand of the consumer advice center and Haus & Grund will again be located in the middle of the hall due to the great demand last year.  What individual solutions for energy use can be created through forward-looking planning and retrofitting, taking efficiency into account – for households and companies? Answers give the experts locally and help with further information. The state trade group for tiles and natural stone will hold its two-day autumn conference as part of NordBau, underlining the importance of the trade fair for these building materials. In parallel, suppliers of tiles, bathroom profiles and construction chemicals will present their wide range of products. Several well-known exhibitors of kitchens round off the range of products for interior finishing.

Open-air site shows range of construction machinery, equipment and commercial vehicles

Visitors can also look forward to a first-class cross-section of construction machinery, construction equipment, commercial vehicles and service providers at the upcoming NordBau. The demand for this sector is extremely high and so the areas are already occupied at an early stage. Exhibitors will also present further developments, innovations and trends in the fields of municipal technology and tools, e-mobility and energy technology. Come into conversation and inform personally, test products – this can be done on all five days at the construction trade fair.

Extensive training program

Also with the extensive advanced training program exchange and discussion stand in the first place. This year, around 60 lecture events will be held as part of NordBau, so the conference facilities, including the new Holstenhallen Congress Center, are very well utilized. Half of these conferences are officially recognized training events of the Chamber of Architects and Engineers of Schleswig-Holstein. More than 4500 conference participants are expected, who will combine their visit to the seminar with a visit to the trade fair. The fair slogan “Here people talk to each other“ comes so optimally to the effect – between specialized visitors, exhibitors, seminar participants and advisers – all information approximately around building.
