XXL industry event on
a growth trajectory

Dear Readers,
We hope you’ve all returned from your summer vacations feeling refreshed and are starting the second half of the year full of energy – a period that kicks off right away with one of the most important industry events in Europe’s raw materials and building materials sector: From September 2 to 5, the XXL demonstration trade show steinexpo will take place for the 12th time in Homberg/Nieder-Ofleiden. Despite the current difficult economic situation, the trade show continues to grow. Compared to the last steinexpo in 2023, about 10 % more exhibitors will be showcasing their machines and systems in live, real-world operation this year against the unique backdrop of Europe’s largest basalt quarry. You’ll find a preview of the trade show highlights and presentations by the various exhibitors starting on p. 28 in our SPECIAL on steinexpo 2026.
Three decades of innovation and partnership between Hosokawa Alpine and Erciyes Mikron is the topic of the third interview (from p. 76), which took our colleague Lukas Höpfner to Istanbul this time as part of the farewell tour marking the retirement of long-time Hosokawa employee Dietmar Alber. The interview covered the early stages of producing micronized calcium carbonate using Hosokawa Alpine technology and the subsequent ongoing investments to reliably ensure consistently high product quality through the use of the best available technology – thereby setting the company apart from the competition in an increasingly competitive market.
