Andy Blythe takes over at B&W Mechanical Handling

Andy Blythe was appointed Managing Director of Ely based B&W Mechanical Handling Ltd. He joined in early May 2011 succeeding Andrew Mitchell. Mitchell, now focusing on his own consultancy business, will maintain strong links with B&W. Blythe brings his vast experience in Aggregates, Minerals and the Bulk Handling industry with a proven track record in business expansion and strategic development.Blythe will team up with Peter Slee-Smith, Managing Director for Operations at B&W. “It’s great to have a new impetus and energy on board, we are very positive and committed to a strong future” comments Slee-Smith. “Joining B&W is like coming home”, Blythe says and refers not only to the materials handling business, but to his return to the UK. “Having worked in many great parts of the world, we enjoy being back; this is a great personal challenge and a great opportunity for B&W to grow” With B&W, Blythe’s initial focus is to improve the strong presence in the Ports and Terminals sector as well as expanding into other high end markets that need the same technologies.“In addition we will also drive the business forward with new products into new segments, we are motivated towards growing the business based on our foundation of quality and durability” Although there have been growth efforts in the past, Blythe considers that there are still great opportunities for B&W in untapped markets. “New products, new markets and new partners, the Aumund Group is very supportive of us and B&W are committed to delivering growth; we have a lot to do”....
