Geiger + Schüle: Over 100 Liebherr machines in operation with Nagel

Geiger + Schüle is a family-run company based in Ulm that carries out road and sewer construction work as well as general construction projects. Reliability, robustness and machine availability are crucial, especially in these demanding areas of application – and this is exactly what Liebherr machines are all about.

"Our proximity to the Liebherr plant in Kirchdorf, just a few kilometres from Ulm, was also an important factor in the purchase of our first machines. Nagel has been by our side as a sales and service partner from the very beginning: The close triangular relationship between our company, Nagel and Liebherr has made all the difference. The technicians – whether from Liebherr or Nagel – are superbly trained and work efficiently on the machines. Today, we have more than 50 wheel loaders, over 50 wheeled excavators and around ten rail-road excavators. The Liebherr machines have proven to be reliable, powerful and durable," says Rolf Mezger, Managing Director of Geiger + Schüle Bau GmbH & Co. KG.

At the heart of the construction sites: Liebherr machines in Oberstdorf and Erbach-Ringingen

At Erbach-Ringingen, Geiger + Schüle is developing a new area and building key infrastructure, including access roads and a roundabout. Precision and versatility are ensured by three Liebherr machines: A 918 Compact, A 920 wheeled excavators, and the L 507 Stereo wheel loader.

The A 918 Compact stands out for its compact design and exceptional flexibility – ideal for confined spaces without sacrificing performance. Its 1.85 m tail swing radius and stability enable precise roundabout construction, while the powerful hydraulic system supports a wide range of attachments.

For heavy-duty tasks, the A 920 delivers. With an operating weight of around 20 tonnes and 129 kW engine power, it ensures efficient material loading. High digging performance, impressive payloads, and fast cycles guarantee productivity – critical for meeting tight road construction schedules.

The machine ensemble is completed by the L 507 Stereo wheel loader, renowned for its exceptional manoeuvrability. Its Stereo steering dramatically reduces the turning circle, while its versatility makes it ideal for tasks such as levelling and material transport, ensuring superb flexibility.

In Oberstdorf, the scenario is quite different. Here, Geiger + Schüle is working on a railway construction site where safety and precision are paramount. Liebherr rail-road excavators demonstrate their full capabilities: designed to travel on both road and rail, they can operate directly on the track for laying, maintenance, or welding work. Their ability to switch quickly between modes minimises traffic interruptions and boosts efficiency on site

A family-run company – in the spirit of Liebherr and its partner Nagel

The roots of Geiger + Schüle Bau GmbH & Co. KG stretch back over a century: to 1904 for Schüle and 1923 for Geiger. Both family-run companies, firmly anchored in the Ulm region, merged in 1990 – combining decades of experience and diverse expertise while preserving the core values behind their success: quality, reliability, and customer focus.

Today, Geiger + Schüle is managed by the third generation and employs around 350 people, making it one of southern Germany’s leading construction firms. The company operates in strategic areas such as civil engineering, road and path construction, and railway line maintenance. Beyond figures and technical know-how, Geiger + Schüle embodies a living family business culture – defined by long-term thinking and a constant drive for innovation without losing sight of its roots.
