Terex Trucks signs new dealer in British Columbia

Construction is big business in British Columbia right now, with lots of large-scale projects taking place across the region. That’s why Terex Trucks has decided to strengthen its presence there by signing a new dealer: RDM Equipment Sales and Rentals.

British Columbia (BC) is the westernmost province in Canada. With its mountainous landscape and abundance of lakes, it’s a popular holiday destination for thrill seekers who enjoy activities such as camping, hiking and river rafting. BC is also a very popular location for contractors in the business of construction, as there are many large-scale projects taking place across the region. The Millennium Line Broadway extension project is already underway, which will see the rapid rail line extended by more than 5 km. There are also plans to replace the 629 m George Massey tunnel and build a natural gas pipeline that will be 670 km in length.

Customer to dealer
With such a strong construction market in BC, Terex Trucks decided to sign RDM Equipment Sales and Rentals as its new dealer in the region. The team behind RDM Equipment Sales and Rentals has plenty of experience in the industry. “Having previously been a construction contractor for the past 40 years, we knew there was a need to service the market with a large rental fleet and a quality range of products,” says Steve Madsen, President of RDM Equipment Sales and Rentals. “We’re striving to be the first choice in value-based heavy equipment solutions – and with the level of product quality you get from Terex Trucks, I’m confident we’ll get there. This is a new chapter for us – we want to be bigger and better than any previous Terex Trucks dealer has ever been before. We are committed to delivering customer satisfaction – not just through providing quality machines, but also by providing an outstanding level of customer support.”

Well suited
The majority of RDM Equipment Sales and Rentals’ customers are active in the mining, construction and landscaping segments. As a Terex Trucks dealer, the company sells, rents, services and provides parts for the TA300 and TA400 from its headquarters in Surrey, BC. “We’re really happy to be a Terex Trucks dealer,” says Steve. “The TA300 and TA400 articulated haulers from Terex Trucks fill a much-needed gap in our product lineup and will enable us to become an even stronger dealership. They are good quality products that are perfectly suited to the BC market.”

“With RDM Equipment Sales and Rentals’ extensive experience as a customer in this market, they know what good service looks like,” says Greg Gerbus, Regional Sales Manager at Terex Trucks. “RDM is a strong dealership that’s keen to become even stronger, making them a valuable addition to our global dealer network. I think they will do very well now that the TA300 and TA400 are in their product portfolio – because a high proportion of their customers work in mines and construction sites, which are precisely the kind of challenging applications our machines are designed for.”

British engineering in BC
RDM Equipment Sales and Rentals will be supplying Terex Trucks TA300 and TA400 articulated haulers within BC. The recently upgraded TA300 – which can haul 28 tonnes and has a heaped capacity of 17.5 m³ – now comes with the new ZF EP320 transmission. This means smoother gear shifting and a 5 % improvement in fuel efficiency, as well as enhanced performance, productivity and operator comfort. As a result of this product upgrade, the TA300 also now comes with long life transmission fluid, increasing the length of time between oil maintenance intervals from 1000 to 4000 hours. In addition to all of this, the TA300 also has true independent front suspension as standard, further enhancing operator comfort and enabling excellent traction control and maximum productivity.

Terex Trucks articulated haulers are firm favorites among customers working in mines, quarries and large-scale construction sites. The largest articulated hauler in the company’s product offering is the TA400. It is able to haul 38 tonnes, boasts a heaped capacity of 23.3 m³ and comes fitted with a Scania DC13 engine. It is fitted with an Allison HD4560 transmission, high performance oil and offers up to 6000 h between service intervals. This heavyweight hauler also provides great traction and an effective power-to-weight ratio, which ensures material is moved quickly and efficiently at minimal cost.
