Equipment for iron ore plant in Mauritania

FLSmidth has been awarded a contract worth approximately 40 million US$ from Mauritanian La Société Nationale Industrielle et Minière (SNIM) for the supply of a wet concentrator package and a train load out package for their Guelb el Aouj iron ore plant, located near Zouerate in Mauritania. The wet concentrator package includes a ball mill, slurry pumps, thickeners for tailings and dust, horizontal belt filters for concentrate and tailings as well as conveyors and wet magnetic separators. The package will also include basic and detailed engineering and procurement of all equipment, instruments and auxiliaries necessary for the operation of the facility. Included in the load out package is a train load out system and conveyors together with detailed engineering and procurement of all the equipment, instruments and auxiliaries necessary for the operation of the facility as well as all the basic, electrical, instrumentation and structural engineering. SNIM is the world's seventh largest iron ore exporter, supplying around 12 million t/a to the world market. Prospecting and exploration started in 1967. The Mauritanian government owns 78 % of SNIM. The order is based on the "Island concept" – a solution where FLSmidth supplies entire sections of the full flow sheet, offering the customer the advantage of One Source supply.
