Opti-mization of preparation technology has a definitive influence on the cost-efficiency of production facilities, since both income and production costs are affected by production rate. It is therefore vital that ongoing production be continuously monitored, by means of on-line monitoring, for example, and that high-speed reaction on an as-necessary basis to defective processes be implemented in combination with a well functioning automation system. Machine monitoring systems will also be developed further, in order to detect negative changes at an early stage and avoid serious consequential damage. Machine makers will also become service-providers by supplying the required prepared machine data to customers, or by using these data themselves for optimization, or for maintenance and full-service agreements.
