Mobile recycling to create space for “aspern Vienna‘s Urban Lakeside”
One of the largest urban development projects in Europe - “aspern Vienna‘s Urban Lakeside” – will be set up in the northeast of Vienna within the next 20 years. On 3rd July 2009 was the start of the first stage of development. They started to demolish the runway of the former airfield Aspern (Fig. 1) to create space for an R & D park. A technology centre will be set up there from 2010, for which recently the first stage of an international architectural competition was put out to tender.
Already in 1992 the first steps were taken to start one of the largest urban development areas in Europe....
