SMOPYC 2011 closes with excellent results

SMOPYC 2011, Zaragoza/Spain (05.-09.04.2011)

SMOPYC, the 18th international machine fair for building sector and mining, closed its gates on 09.04.2011 looking back on excellent results. The participation of 1253 exhibitors from 34 countries – of these 751 foreign companies – and the stream of almost 89 000 visitors from all parts of the world, with a clear increase of foreign guests, confirmed the top position of the fair as a standard for the international building sector (Fig.). The SMOPYC 2011 took place in nine large halls covering a total area of more than 300 000 m².

Against the background of the present boom, this year’s SMOPYC had raised special expectations since its results are considered an indicator for the situation in the sector. The final data have exceeded the original expectations. In view of the fact that the SMOPYC 2008 had the best results in its history, this year’s figures are evidence of a recovery in the market situation. In particular, this becomes clear after an evaluation of the number of visitors which had increased to 88 931, which means an increase of 7.8 % compared to the last fair in 2005. Even more positive is the increase of foreign visitors by 9.8 % compared to 2008 amounting to a total of 10 079.

Though the stream of visitors including 150 foreign delegations and agencies from 60 countries spread over the entire duration of the fair, the majority of visitors met during the main fair days when additionally various specialist conferences and meetings of the most important sectors took place.

Looking forward s the next fair, which will take place from 01.-05.04.2014, the organizers of the SMOPYC have already started to plan the next steps. Current information can be recalled at any time on the website www.smopyc.com .
