Erection of two of the biggest coal fired hot gas generators
In 2013, A TEC GRECO Combustion Systems Europe GmbH has signed a contract with company Société Le Nickel-SLN, part of ERAMET group. This contract includes design and delivery of two of the largest vertical coal fired Hot Gas Generators (HGG) with a thermal capacity of 53 MW each for generating hot gas (above 900 °C) for installation in the nickel production plant in Nouméa/New Caledonia. They were manufactured in a shipyard in Split/Croatia and shipped in more than 70 containers to New Caledonia. Additionally one smaller 7 MW HGG for the drying process of coal mill was delivered and will be integrated into the Loesche vertical mill.
The HGG main bodies as well as the supporting steel structure, anticorrosion protection, painting, stairhouse and all required material for assembly on site were delivered in January 2014. Commissioning is expected before end of the year. One of the HGGs will be fitted with an elevator. Both of them are equipped with a coal silo with advanced weighing and dosing technology. As usual, the silos are provided with ATEX conforming equipment. The supply includes electrics, light technologies and utilities. Moreover, a HFO (heavy fuel oil) system will be supplied. The burner can be started with gas and can be operated with oil or coal.
