Record growth of SOLIDS Dortmund 2015 already before the start of the show

SOLIDS Dortmund will take place on 4th & 5th November 2015 in the Messe Westfalenhallen Dortmund. The 7th edition will again be complemented by RECYCLING-TECHNIK Dortmund 2015, the recycling and environment technologies show, as well as the Urban Mining conference. For the first time in the show’s history it will cover four exhibition halls. The newly-opened Hall 7 will be devoted thematically to suppliers of solids and recycling technology.

“This strong resonance among the exhibitors really confirms the concept behind SOLIDS as a straightforward, two-day show focused on innovations and doing business. More than ever before, this show fulfils a real need on both sides of the supply-demand equation,” says Daniel Eisele, Event Director for Easyfairs. “For many companies, this format works exceptionally well for presenting products, discussing technical solutions with trade visitors and making new or solidifying existing business contacts.”

In total, the show organiser expects over 450 exhibitors at the event in November, covering the entire spectrum of process engineering in solids and recycling technologies. 75 % of the exhibitors from 2014 have already re-booked for the upcoming show. In addition, a number of new enterprises have joined their ranks, including: Ambros Schmelzer, B&F Metallbautechnik, Dustcontrol, Erhard Muhr, Eriez Europe, F&D Wägetechnik-Waagenbau, HSM, Intensiv-Filter, Kloska Group, Köllemann, Komptech, Mahle Industriefiltration, Orbinox, Otto Ganter, Schreier Maschinen+Apparatebau, ReSiTec, RMS, Rosenbauer International, Sigma Maschinenbau, steute Schaltgeräte, Tedima, Stokkermill, Sympatec, Vautid, Wrights Recycling Machinery and many more.

Due to the upcoming event the editor-in-chief of the journal AT MINERAL PROCESSING, Dr. Petra Strunk, took the opportunity to speak with Daniel Eisele, Event Director SOLIDS and RECYCLING-TECHNIK about the present developments:

AT: SOLIDS Dortmund is already taking place for the 7th time now. What novelties will surprise the trade show visitors?

Daniel Eisele: Well, in the last few years the event has become the leading trade show for bulk solids technologies in Germany. With about 450 exhibitors for the first time, an essential difference is a greater variety of products and exhibitors. The visitor can get a general idea of the complete market. The entire range of offers can be seen at the show. The topic of recycling technology will have a much stronger profile than ever before with its own exhibition hall. Two parallel conferences will take place, and it is also a novelty that we will offer our visitors more than 100 lectures in our InnovationCenter and SolutionCenter for the first time.

AT: So what exactly is the InnovationCenter and SolutionCenter?

Daniel Eisele: The InnovationCenter and SolutionCenter are open lecture forums. We offer the visitors a balanced and interesting program of short expert lectures and panel discussions. Experts present current projects, case studies, innovations and experiments on the stages of the InnovationCenter. Amongst other things, they deal with the fields of powder and bulk solids handling, material handling and bulk solids transportation. On the stages of the SolutionCenter our exhibitors present their product highlights and technical solutions and talk directly to their audience.

AT: What other highlights can the visitors expect this year?

Daniel Eisele: In addition to the proven Dutch joint stand, for the first time manufacturers from Italy, Poland and England are also represented at joint stands. International technologies combined with the typical catering of the corresponding country are offered to the visitors at the country pavilions.

Another highlight will be the business bar. It is located in the centre of hall 4. There the partner companies Martin Engineering, Welding Alloys, Rema Tip Top and Jacob Rohrsysteme can invite visitors to participate in a specialist exchange of ideas in an optimum business atmosphere. The guided tours with selected topics is another attraction, which is very popular with the visitors. They allow the expert visitor an efficient know-how transfer at further hot spots of the show.

AT: Urban Mining e.V. and Easyfairs signed a cooperation contract. How was this connection reached and what are the common interests between the goals of the show and those of the conference organizer?

Daniel Eisele: The association Urban Mining has successfully been organizing the Urban Mining Conference for several years. It is optimally networked in the region of North Rhine-Westphalia with very good connections to federal ministries. With the 6th Urban Mining Conference, another main recycling issue will now come to Dortmund generating an additional increase in value for recycling experts. As natural ressources decrease, the recovery of materials plays an important role both as regards to the RECYCLING-TECHNIK and the Urban Mining Conference. Together we can pay more attention to this topic.

AT: What is the connection between the 2nd German Conference on Fire and Explosion Protection, which takes place at the same time, and SOLIDS Dortmund?

Daniel Eisele: The topic of fire and explosion protection has always been a main focus of our trade show. Last year we organized the first interdisciplinary German fire and explosion protection conference together with IND EX® e.V. It was a great success. About 100 company representatives from the bulk solids industries took part and, in addition to the lectures, they were particularly impressed by the live explosions and fires at the testing site of DMT. With this conference we once again set ourselves the target to bring together experts in the field of fire and explosion protection, to promote the exchange of ideas and to impart the latest findings of research in this field to the conference participants.

AT: How can the visitor make use of this new offer, i.e. trade show and lectures?

Daniel Eisele: The visitor can enrol for the conferences, take part in the InnovationCenter and SolutionCenter, can gain insights into prospects and views by means of the lectures. Additionally, they can exchange ideas with the lecturers and obtain advice in the exhibition as well as in the presentations with regard to the technical solution most appropriate for his needs and with regard to the suitable components and machines.

AT: In the previous years you have expanded your show program all over Europe. What about the program and what are your plans for the future?

Daniel Eisele: This is correct. With our bulk solids events in Antwerp, Basel, St. Petersburg, Rotterdam, Cracow and Dortmund our European series has developed into the largest bulk solids network of Europe. In the meantime 1100 exhibitors meet 14 000 expert visitors in the course of the six events. We continue to place our trust in expansion also regarding the “SOLIDS European Series”. New bulk solids events in other countries are already being planned for the future.
