The STONE realm of Northern Bavaria & the Franconian Alb

STEIN trip organized by the Geo-kompetenzzentrum Freiberg e.V.

This year the 11th STEIN-Trip goes to Northern Bavaria and the Franconian Alb from June 7 to 11, 2022. The STEIN trip is a professional excursion on the topics of natural stone quarrying, processing and building culture and is thus primarily aimed at geologists, quarry operators, stonemasons and architects, but of course also at all those interested in stone. The 5-day trip offers a wealth of interesting quarrying and plant visits, guided tours of building and restoration objects, and insights into stone quarrying and processing. The excursion will also take participants to the stone college in Wunsiedel near Bayreuth. There, state-certified designers with a focus on “interdisciplinary design” or state-certified stone technicians are trained.

The expert discussions among the architects, geologists, restorers and stonemasons traveling along and between the sightseeing points have long been an added value of the STEIN trips. The evenings end in a shared round and with discussions about the highlights of the day.

The management takes over Hilke Domsch of the Geokompetenzzentrum Freiberg e.V. (overall management) and Dr. Klaus Poschlod from the Bavarian State Office for the Environment (technical management). The registration deadline is 30.04.2022. The costs for the technical excursion are deductible as business expenses.
