Many companies are increasingly specializing in equipment and process solutions, which are tailored to the individual requirements of their customers. Two special articles in this issue deal with corresponding examples of drive technology. Siemens supplied individual crusher drive system solutions made up of standardized gearing elements for the comminution of ROM limestone in France (from p. 56), and geared motors from Watt Drive are used for all the relevant different drives of the reclaimer at the Erzberg in Austria (from p. 60).
In particular redevelopment processes for surface mining lakes are an important topic within the framework of the renaturalisation of former mining companies. Thus, a new method to neutralise flooded opencast mines is described in the third article. This method was developed by GMB GmbH, a 100 percent subsidiary of Vattenfall Europe Mining AG (from p. 67).
Finally, the Hillhead 2016 is fast approaching. Read in our preview what highlights will be offered at the well-known fair famous for its live demonstrations at Tarmac’s quarry near Buxton, Derbyshire/UK (from p. 22).
