Fully digitalized engineering process

The new Flender One: drivetrain questions are a thing of the past

Without drives the world would not turn, even in our more digitalized era. No raw materials are being processed, no food made, no containers loaded, no energy generated, no smartphones produced without a gearbox being involved. For more than 120 years, Flender has been at the forefront of drive technology. A majority of industries are being equipped with drive solutions globally. Whether it is in raw material production, the transport business or chemical processing, currently over 500 000 Flender gearboxes are operating all over the world. After establishing the Flender Standard Gearbox (FSG) as the industry standard for industrial gearboxes around 30 years ago, Flender is now introducing its successor at Hannover Messe: Flender One.

Individual, Smart, Efficient: Flender One defines a new path for industrial gearboxes

A gearbox with the ambition to revolutionize the market again. Flender defines a new path where “standard” is not the focus anymore. Flender One is produced exactly according to the individual customer requirements. However, it needs less time from order to commissioning thanks to its fully digitalized engineering process. It maximizes efficiency, saves valuable energy and sets new standards in sustainability. Customers can configure Flender One without support and gearbox know-how. Fully integrated sensor technology and onboard analytics make it smart, simplify maintenance und prevent failures. It is the next level of the Flender One platform for industrial gearboxes with further developments to follow.

Flender CEO Andreas Evertz: “What makes Flender One unique, is the ability to exactly meet customer requirements while processes automatically run in the background – over the entire lifecycle from order to operation in the plant. The fully digitalized engineering process is a further milestone. Automatically designing parts according to customer requirements without human interaction. This is the future of the industry.”

Rouven Daniel, President Industrial Gears, adds: “Efficiency is above all. Each gearbox is designed to meet individual requirements. The customer gets exactly what he needs – no less and especially no more. In addition, we simplify and accelerate all processes, including predictive service. This saves time and money and contributes to climate protection through minimal use of resources.”

Digital drive intelligence ensures maximum availability and reduces costs

The Flender One platform also includes Flender’s new drive intelligence AIQ®. With integrated sensor technology and analytic functions AIQ® provides all relevant information about the drivetrain while operating. The detailed condition monitoring of each component detects deviations from normal operation at an early stage and enables for detection of potentially harmful conditions. Service jobs can thus be carried out in good time, quickly and proactively, tailored to the customer’s needs. This conserves resources and increases the availability of the plant.

Also, the Flender couplings portfolio is digital thanks to AIQ®. With AIQ® Detect operators have a close eye on their production plants and prevent a porous elastomer from bringing the entire production process to a standstill. Together with comprehensive services such as the retrofit of old or third-party drives, Flender offers a complete package with which operators no longer have to spend time on the drivetrain of their plants.

Drive technology that protects the climate

Not only for Flender One and AIQ® sustainability is the focus. At the end of 2022 Flender has been awarded the gold medal in the EcoVadis sustainability rating and ranks in the top five percent of the most sustainable companies globally. The company is therefore dedicating its appearance at the Hannover Messe to the greatest challenge facing mankind and presenting how economy and drive technology can contribute to climate protection. Flender CEO Andreas Evertz: “Our ambition ‘Flender is the partner of choice for a sustainable future’ is not just a phrase. We are continuously looking for ways to minimize our CO2 footprint and waste of resources in all our product developments, business units and supply chains. Flender One is the perfect example. By product design, digitalization and close cooperation with our customers and suppliers we can create industrial processes in a way that our planet remains an inhabitable place also for future generations.”
