Dewatering pumps: Tsurumi's best-sellers

Which pumps do companies rely on when it comes to removing dirty water? The pump manufacturer Tsurumi has taken a look - these are the best-sellers of 2022.

Moving water from A to B: What seems simple is sometimes a feat of strength. The Japanese pump manufacturer Tsurumi has been meeting this challenge since 1924. With great success, because the brand with the blue water vortex in its logo is considered the world market leader in the industry. The product range for the EU market alone includes around 500 models with flow rates of up to 30 m3/min. The company was particularly pleased about last year, because it was able to repeatedly increase its turnover. Tsurumi does not publish any concrete figures. But the ranking volumes start "with four digit figures", the company announced in Düsseldorf.

The smallest is the biggest

Of all things, the smallest model of the manufacturer, the "Family-12", holds the top position in deliveries. This is a universal submersible dewatering pump with a motor power of only 100 watts, but with a capacity of 80 l/min. The core target group includes crafts in the construction sector where "things can go wrong", meaning, where residual water has to be collected. Where tanks have to be emptied. Or cellars that have filled up with excessive amounts of rain water.

The pump is therefore designed as a residue water pump that can pic up water from flat surfaces down to a water level of just 1 mm. Tsurumi's second-placed model, the LSC, falls into the same category. It offers much more and is part of the basic equipment of many fire brigades. Remarkably, the more powerful newest edition, just introduced in 2022, advanced to one of the most successful market launches of recent years.

Third place is occupied by a pump that bridges to the category of units used for groundwater dewatering tasks, which is Tsurumi's core segment. The LB series is good for up to 440 l/min and heads of up to 17 m. The HS series is also in this range, with similarly considerable numbers.

"Heavy boys" are all three-phase

The next ranks are occupied by the "real" construction pumps of the market leader. These are the three-phase units with powerful motors that are also used for the heaviest dewatering tasks, such as in mines and tunnels. This is where the KTZ series really shines – and sold best: three letters demonstrating all what Tsurumi stands for - and what is echoed in the company slogan "Stronger for longer".

The KTZ is a powerful, robust pump with flow rates of up to 3960 l/min that pushes water vertically upwards to 71 m. It even swallows chunks of 20 mm hard rock, without being prematurely capitulated by abrasion. The pump has an ingenious motor cooling system, because the pumped medium is channelled lengthwise through the slim housing made of grey cast iron GG20. This cools the motor even with small amounts of water. Moreover, the KTZ, like almost all of the manufacturer's pumps, is stable in snore operation and dry running.

Top model achieves 216 m

With the similarly designed KTVE in fifth place, many customers chose a pump with a water level switch to save energy costs. Unlike other manufacturers, Tsurumi uses a component without mechanical elements, which in principle promises greater reliability. The electrode switches the pump automatically so that no supervision is necessary. By the way, the LH4110W is listed further down the charts. This pump is a technical superlative in its segment: a single unit is capable of removing 120 tonnes of water per hour from a 216 m deep construction site. Or, alternatively, to manage an even much greater distance or quantity horizontally.
