Automated truck scales

Truck scales and self-service terminals from OAS AG make logistics processes faster and more reliable. From identification of the delivering trucks through reading of the order data to the actual weighing, weighing processes only take a few seconds thanks to plant logistics automation components from OAS AG. The advantage of automated truck scales is obvious: the scales are vacated faster so that more trucks can be processed. Irrespective of whether fuels, ashes, liquid components or mineral intermediate products are transported, the truck scales and self-service terminals from the Bremen-based weighing system and automation specialist make the weighing processes very easy. At the self-service terminals, the truck drivers need to make just a few entries to call up orders and load or unload their truck. The necessary freight documents are printed out directly at the terminal and can be signed off by the driver at a touch screen monitor.

Data processing direct at the scales enormously reduces the processing effort and cost for the logistics process as re-entry of the order and freight papers in the office is no longer necessary. In addition, all information from the virtual memory is immediately available in electronic form to the entire plant. All data can be easily managed in existing SAP landscapes, making printed forms and multiple entry of data a thing of the past. Automation of the plant logistics makes a considerable contribution to the traceability of all process steps involved and therefore to plant availability.

Other advantages of the automation components: the terminals are rugged and suitable for daily use even in tough conditions. The user interface can be presented in different languages. On a welcome screen on the touch screen monitor, the driver simply chooses the language in which he wants to be guided through the subsequent dialogue. As the terminals are height-adjustable (Fig.), the truck drivers can control all functions directly from the driver’s cabin – another plus for speed and availability.
