Sandvik launches the new QJ341 onto the market

Sandvik’s QJ341 jaw crusher is an upgraded version of its QJ340 model, adapted to meet the requirements of the exhaust gas legislation introduced in Europe and the USA in January 2011 in accordance with Stage 3B/Tier 4i. The dimensions of the engine combined with the flue gas after-treatment unit necessitated changes to the design of the hydraulic power pack. Faced with this design challenge, Sandvik succeeded in effecting the upgrade while providing customers with real added value at the same time.

Compact and manoeuvrable, the QJ341 (Fig. 1) has all the features of its predecessor, the QJ340, including the 1200 x 750 mm feed opening, hydraulically adjustable CSS, high reduction ratios and crushing speed, productivity, reverse crushing action to relieve blockages and automatic central lubrication system. The QJ341 also has new design features and functions to ensure continuous and uninterrupted crushing and greater operator safety:

• Choice of Stage 3A/Tier 3 or Stage 3B/Tier 4i engines, depending on the exhaust gas legislation in effect at the machine destination

• Comprehensive CAN-BUS control system with Danfoss colour screen (Fig. 2) for the clear display of all crusher operating parameters

• Operation up to 50 °C ambient temperature without the need for an oil change

• Level sensor in the crusher to monitor the feed rate and increase the crushing rate (Fig. 3)

• Improved feed control in the feeder drive to ensure continuous, uninterrupted crushing

• Speed monitoring at the main discharge conveyor for load-driven control of the feeder. The system slows or stops the feeder depending on the discharge, improving the efficiency of the crushing process

• Proportional control for machine tracking enabling greater manoeuvrability

• New more efficient Danfoss hydraulic control system with easily accessible displays, operating controls and low-level service points

• Hydraulic cooler drive controls the fan speed and increases efficiency. Automatic reverse function to periodically back-flush dust out of the cooler

Sandvik customers will also benefit from the maintenance features:

• Maintenance-free sealing solution and better heat dissipation thanks to extensive steel pipework for the hydraulic lines

• Improved positioning of the service points: both sides of the engine enclosure are accessible

• Thanks to central, low-level drain points, operating liquids and lubricants can be changed quickly and safely, minimizing crusher downtime for service work

• All engine service points are easily accessible with low level drain points

• All hydraulic valves situated at ground level for ease of access

• The diesel tank and smaller hydraulic tank are easily accessible from the front platform on the machine with inspection hatches

Customers will also benefit from low operating costs and a more environmentally friendly machine, with a better CO2 balance.
