Versatile and robust mining hose system with wear indication

With the Conti Ultimate, ContiTech has developed a robust suction and transport hose for a wide range of applications in mining and gravel or ballast works. It is suitable for transporting abrasive materials such as earth, ore slurry, slag, sand and gravel. The highly abrasion-resistant Conti Ultimate conveying hose system is characterized by its wide range of applications, simple coupling assembly and a wear indicator layer in the hose body.

The optical wear indicator Conti Orange Liner is an orange-colored intermediate layer between the rubber lining and the textile reinforcement. It enables the condition of the hose to be identified quickly at any time with just one glance. If the Conti Orange Liner shows through, the hose either only needs to be turned or replaced completely. This saves unnecessary hose changes as well as production interruptions due to a defective hose.

The self-developed flanges made of a heavy-duty, rust-proof and seawater-resistant aluminum alloy fit perfectly to the hose and enable a secure hose connection. The flange bolt circle meets both European standard EN 1092-1 and the American ANSI 16.5B.

The conical sealing elements, also an in-house development, ensure absolute leak-free performance. Their form simplifies installation and maintenance and prevents the transported medium from coming into contact with the flanges and damaging them. In addition, the hose is pressed firmly against the flange by these, further enhancing the security of the connection.

The wear-resistant suction and delivery hose is extremely flexible due to the textile strength member with incorporated steel helix and allows a small bending radius, making it easy to handle. It is available in internal diameters from 51 to 610 mm and, depending on the diameter, in lengths between 10 and 40 m. It withstands temperatures from -40 to +80 °C. Depending on the type, it has a rated operating pressure of 5 or 10 bar. The bursting pressure is 3.2 times the operating pressure, ensuring a large safety margin. “The fact that we manufacture all the connecting elements ourselves gives our customers the security of a completely matched system,” emphasizes Stephan Renz, Area Sales Manager in the Industrial Hoses division of ContiTech – Industrial Fluid Solutions.
