After six years, AchemAsia is back in Shanghai as the leading platform for the Chinese process industry and will once again serve as a showcase for sustainable technologies that contribute to China's decarbonisation goals over the next three days. As the “International Expo and Innovation Forum for Sustainable Chemical Production”, the focus is on innovative technologies for a climate-neutral future, including process and pharmaceutical technology, digitalisation (primarily using AI and robotics), as well as the rapid development of a hydrogen economy and hydrogen-based processes in the Chinese chemical industry. A total of 267 exhibitors from 14 countries and regions will present their innovations on site in China, the world's largest production location for chemical and pharmaceutical products.
The opening ceremony on 14 October 2025 was attended by distinguished guests, including Prof Xiangchen Fang, Executive Vice President and Secretary General of the Chemical Industry and Engineering Society of China (CIESC), Dr Wolfram Stichert, Chairman of DECHEMA and Senior Vice President Catalysts Research and Testing at BASF, and Maximilian Butek, Executive Director and Board Member of the German Chamber of Commerce in China – East China.

Innovative technologies for a climate-neutral future dominate the exhibition and conference programme
AchemAsia 2025 will not only focus on innovative technologies for a climate-neutral future in its exhibition, but also in the accompanying conference. The sessions cover topics such as Green Chemistry and Sustainable Supply Chain, Pharma, Energy Conservation Technology, Transformation of mixed waste plastics as well as core sessions on the newest advancements of Mixing & Separation and Pumps & valves and materials. Complemented by forums on Digital and Lab Innovation. Together, they showcase the industry’s progress toward greater efficiency, circularity, and digital transformation. They were individually organised in cooperation with DECHEMA’s supporting partner network and seamlessly integrated into the exhibition. Besides that, special user-oriented sessions on new products and services will be featured. A highlight of AchemAsia is the "Forum on Process
Industry Enterprises Going Global and High-Quality Development," which helps Chinese companies overcome global challenges in compliance and technological cooperation and build a new global ecosystem that is beneficial to all sides.
“Innovation is the catalyst for a sustainable future. We must drive forward the integration of green processes and digital technologies and tackle global challenges in the areas of emission reduction, energy saving and the circular economy through cross-sector cooperation. The Asian market is demonstrating enormous innovative strength in this regard," emphasised Dr Wolfram Stichert, Chairman of DECHEMA and Senior Vice President Catalysts Research and Testing at BASF, in his opening speech.
Prof Xiangchen Fang, Executive Vice President and Secretary General of the Chemical Industry and Engineering Society of China (CIESC), added: “Amidst the current global transformation towards greater sustainability, China's chemical industry faces unprecedented development opportunities. AchemAsia offers us a high-calibre platform to pool global knowledge and advance China's dual carbon goals.”
“AchemAsia 2025 is an important event to foster multinational relations in the field of process industry. As AHK Greater China, we are happy to see so many industry leaders from the whole world and Germany to discuss with their Chinese partners on how to grow and innovate together”, says Maximilian Butek, Executive Director and Board Member of theGerman Chamber of Commerce in China – East China.
Innovation Award and Artificial Intelligence
The Process Innovation Award will be presented for the first time at AchemAsia 2025, recognising significant advances in the industry. The award – established by PROCESS China and DECHEMA – is presented in six major categories: chemical engineering technology, pharmaceutical engineering technology, hydrogen energy and green production technology, digital intelligence and instrumentation, fluid engineering, laboratory equipment and consumables.
Artificial intelligence will also be a key topic at this year's event: expert forums will showcase the latest advances in AI applications for laboratory automation, production process optimisation and quality monitoring. This will demonstrate how artificial intelligence is systematically driving the intelligent transformation of the process industry.
“I see AchemAsia as more than an exhibition – it is the gateway where global expertise meets China’s own innovation. Together, we are shaping the future of sustainable chemical production and building the pathways to achieve the dual carbon goals”, closes Dr Björn Mathes, CEO of DECHEMA Exhibitions.
