New range of air treatment solutions: Atlas Copco debuts CDR and CDR+ portable dryers for tough conditions

Atlas Copco has launched a new range of portable desiccant air dryers, setting a new benchmark in on-site air treatment for industries working in the toughest conditions. The line-up includes six models – three twin tower models (CDR 850, CDR 1200, CDR 1700) and three units with Cerades™ technology (CDR+ 980, CDR+ 1350, CDR+ 1700) – each designed to provide a consistent flow of high-quality, moisture-free compressed air in a wide range of mobile applications.

This latest innovation enhances Atlas Copco’s commitment to offering a complete, integrated portable air solution, combining high-efficiency air dryers with the company’s portfolio of portable compressors, nitrogen generators and high-pressure boosters. “Customers working in harsh, outdoor environments need solutions that are reliable, robust, and easy to use,” says Jan Nijs, Product Marketing Manager, Portable Air Division. “With the new CDR and CDR+ dryers, we’ve delivered exactly that – a purpose-built air treatment range that completes the mobile air chain, offering clean and dry air on the go.”

Reliable performance across all environments

Designed with durability and simplicity in mind, the CDR and CDR+ dryers are ideal for all rental applications such as pipeline drying, offshore operations, exploration drilling, shipyard sandblasting, and construction sites. All models deliver a stable dew point of -40°C/-40°F, ensuring optimal air quality that protects downstream equipment from corrosion, freezing and contamination.

The dryers operate within a pressure range of 7 to 16 bar and provide a free air delivery of 24 to 48 m³/min.

Two technologies, one common goal: reliability

The CDR range of portable desiccant dryers uses a traditional activated alumina desiccant, offering dependable moisture removal in line with Atlas Copco’s reputation for quality and reliability. Thanks to its pneumatic control system, no external power is required; making the CDR a perfect match for temporary job sites, rental fleets and remote operations where electricity supply is limited or unreliable.

Meanwhile, the premium CDR+ series provides additional benefits and features tailored for demanding outdoor applications. The CDR+ is equipped with Cerades™, Atlas Copco’s proprietary solid ceramic desiccant technology. Cerades™ significantly reduces pressure drop, boosts energy efficiency, and extends service intervals – resulting in lower operating costs over the dryer’s lifetime. It comes equipped with a WSD water separator, a UD+ integrated inlet pressure filter, and purge flow control. Additionally, the CDR+ features state-of-the-art Xc2004 controller for easy monitoring.

Designed for toughness

All models in the new range are housed in a robust, corrosion-resistant frame, designed to withstand extreme temperatures from -25°C to 50°C. The rugged build offers protection against dust, humidity, and mechanical shock; ensuring consistent uptime, even in the most challenging conditions.

Compact in size and easy to transport, each unit is engineered for fast setup and simple operation, allowing customers to deploy clean air systems quickly and efficiently without the need for technical expertise.

One partner for total air solutions

By launching the CDR and CDR+ range, Atlas Copco reinforces its role as a one-stop partner for mobile air solutions, offering everything from air generation to purification in one seamless package. “Whether our customers are renting equipment for a short-term project or managing a long-term operation in a remote region, they need equipment that performs day after day. This range is engineered for exactly that,” adds Nijs.

The CDR and CDR+ dryers are available now through Atlas Copco’s global sales and support network.
