Far and Wide

Dear Readers,

This issue features many interesting reports and articles. This time, our colleague Lukas Höpfner traveled to Cairo to visit ASCOM Carbonate and Chemicals Manufacturing (ACCM), one of the leading manufacturers of calcium carbonate in the region. Together with Dietmar Alber from Hosokawa Alpine, they met on site with Ahmed Niazy, Managing Director, and Khaled Khattab, Operations Manager, both from ACCM, as well as Suleiman Smadi, MENA Sales Director at Hosokawa Alpine. The interview focused primarily on the raw material limestone, processing methods, ACCM’s significance nationally and internationally, and current and future challenges. Read the fascinating article starting on page 48.

At the end of March, Komatsu presented its latest developments to the international trade press. Under the motto “Innovation Meets Communication”, the focus was on the role of the Hannover plant in manufacturing and further development, as well as on Smart Construction: digital solutions on the construction site. In addition, a series of real-world examples were presented showing where Komatsu machines are being used with their special capabilities (starting on p. 8).

It won’t be long before the biennial Hillhead event opens its doors again in Buxton, not far from Manchester/UK. For one week at the still-active quarry, visitors will be able to see a wide range of large and small machines used in quarrying operations. The AT MINERAL PROCESSING team will also be there and looks forward to engaging in interesting discussions!

Wishing you a productive and interesting time,

x
