steute Controltec

At the POWTECH TECHNOPHARM 2025, the steute business division Controltec will be presenting a variety of switchgear series developed for use in machines and plants within the bulk goods industry. At its 10-m booth, steute will have ample space to highlight two main areas: machine safety in dust and gas Ex zones; and the monitoring of bulk conveyor systems.

steute has a comprehensive range of products to ensure the safety of machines and plants when processing or filling bulk goods. They are suitable for many different real-life applications, a few of which will be presented at the fair using demonstration models.

Some models show monitoring solutions for guard doors in Ex-protected variants, including electromechanical safety switches and non-contact safety sensors with different active principles. Ex solenoid interlocks will also be demonstrated, including the latest STM 515 series, available as an “Extreme” variant for use in adverse environmental conditions (Fig. 1).

The second point of focus for steute at the POWTECH  TECHNOPHARM will be heavy-duty applications: robust switching devices for bulk conveyors, of course also available in dust Ex-protected variants. Exhibits will include heavy-duty emergency pull-wire switches for wire lengths of up to 2 x 100 m, as well as necessary accessories, such as equalising springs and tensioners.

A brand new addition to the Controltec range will also be shown: a wireless version of the tried-and-tested ZS 92 SR belt alignment switch to monitor the correct running of conveyor belts, now available with an RF I/O radio module (Fig. 2). This means: the switch transmits its notifications remotely to a corresponding receiver module, located in e.g. an external control cabinet. This considerably simplifies installation and greatly reduces the effort and cost of cabling. Also reduced is the risk of cable damage in rough environments and resulting machine downtimes.

steute recently installed one of its wireless belt alignment switches at a gravel works in East Westphalia. The test phase has so far progressed without problems.

Another example which will be demonstrated on a model in Nuremberg is a conveyor belt equipped with a variety of switching and monitoring units, including another new development: belt rip detection.
