From large and small particles
Dr. Petra Strunk
Editor-in-chief of AT MINERAL PROCESSING
Dear readers,
Here is the latest issue of AT 05, hot off the press we hope, which focuses on the washing, sorting and comminution of very large or rather small mineral “particles” – in keeping with POWTECH TECHNOPHARM, which opens its doors at the Nuremberg Exhibition Centre from 29 September to 1 October. As well as interesting articles offering in-depth technical analysis, there is also a brief insight into which exhibits at POWTECH TECHNOPHARM are well worth a visit.
Starting with the large “particles”, the plant report “Simply switch on – and start production.” vividly illustrates why bespoke solutions and reliable points of contact provide a competitive advantage. After 28 years and 12 million t of crushed rock, the primary crusher at ROHRDORFER ZEMENT GmbH’s Ebensee plant was due for replacement. The challenge lay in ensuring that the new crusher would fit perfectly into the existing production line. You can read how this challenge was overcome from page 16 onwards.
Future technological solutions will also place higher demands on the quality of processing for minerals such as limestone, graphite, silicon and rare earths. Take a look at the wide range of possibilities for material crushing and processing using Hosokawa Alpine’s equipment in the article “Efficient processing of minerals for the future” from page 36 onwards.
The article “Optical sorting of tar- and bitumen-containing particles from mineral material streams with high proportions of black minerals” presents the findings of the “AsphaCycle” project, a research initiative developed by Zwisler GmbH in collaboration with MFPA Weimar and Binder+Co AG. A comprehensive overview of the investigations and their results can be found from page 54 onwards.
We hope you enjoy this issue of AT MINERAL PROCESSING
